At the beginning of July 2017, the newly founded advisory board of the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF) met for the first time in Cologne. The primary task of the advisory board will be to advise the executive board of the AiF from the perspective of small and medium-sized enterprises on their positioning with regard to innovation policy initiatives of the European Union, the Federal Government and the Federal Provinces.
The AiF promotes research, transfer and innovation. As the umbrella association of 100 non-profit research associations with more than 50,000 integrated companies and 1,200 participating research institutes, it makes an important contribution to sustainably strengthening the competitiveness of Germany’s economy.
In 2016, the AiF invested around 533 million euros in public funding.
